DESCRIPTION:Sponsored byThe WILA Alumni Association\n  \nProgram Description\n\nThis event will address individual and group supervision from a psychoanalytic perspective as well as core legal and ethical considerations when working with supervisees. \n\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Learning Objectives\nUpon completion of the program participants should be able to: \n\nIdentify three dynamics that occur within group supervision\nIdentify three strategies to increase group members’ sense of safety in exposing their clinical work to others\nName common transference-countertransference reactions that frequently occur within group supervision\nName three factors that contribute to the goodness of fit between supervisee and supervisor\nUnderstand how to apply psychoanalytic concepts including transference/countertransference\, parallel process\, and object usage to the supervisory dyad\nIdentify a strategy for assessing the supervisee’s clinical developmental level and supervisory needs in order to optimize the supervision experience\nUnderstand the impact of diversities on the supervisory relationship and dynamics\nUnderstand three legal/ethical considerations applicable to supervision\nUnderstand two ways to navigate ethical dilemmas/issues that commonly arise in supervision\n\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Presenters\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					NANCY MCWILLIAMS\, PH.D.\, ABPP teaches at Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied & Professional Psychology and has a private practice in Lambertville\, NJ. She is author of Psychoanalytic Diagnosis (1994; rev. ed. 2011)\, Psychoanalytic Case Formulation (1999)\, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (2004)\, and Psychoanalytic Supervision (2021)\, and is Associate Editor of both editions of the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (2006\, 2017)\, all with Guilford Press. She is a former president of the Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (Division 39 of the American Psychological Association) and is on the editorial board of Psychoanalytic Psychology. A graduate of the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis\, Dr. McWilliams is also affiliated with the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey. She is on the Board of Trustees of the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge\, MA. \n					\n					 \n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					MICHELE GOMES\, PSY.D. is a psychologist and psychoanalyst who splits her time between her two passions: working with a diverse group of adults and couples in her private practice and leading WILA. Michele is a graduate of WILA’s two-year Postgraduate Fellowship and has remained committed to WILA’s mission ever since. She served as WILA’s Clinical Director for 5 years before becoming Executive Director in 2016. Her unique background in Psychoanalysis\, Multicultural Community Psychology\, Women’s Studies\, and Computer Programming reflects the range of interests and skills she brings to her work. Prior to her clinical practice\, Michele worked at the UCLA School of Public Health assisting with the conduct of epidemiological research related to the intersections between sociocultural variables and mental health. Michele became a Psychoanalyst at the New Center for Psychoanalysis. At NCP\, she teaches\, sits on the Board of Directors\, and is active on many committees including being a founding Co-Chair of the Committee on Diversities and Sociocultural Issues. Michele is committed to a non-profit way of life and hopes to expand the reach and role of psychoanalytic ideas in the community. \n					\n					 \n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					STEPHEN C. PHILLIPS\, JD\, PSY.D. is a licensed psychologist and member of the State Bar of California. He maintains a private practice in Beverly Hills in clinical and forensic psychology. Dr. Phillips was President of the Board of Psychology from 2016 to 2019 and is the current Chair of its Enforcement and Telepsychology Committees. In addition\, he is on the adjunct teaching faculty of the California School of Professional Psychology and is a member of the core faculty and a primary supervisor at the Wright Institute Los Angeles. Dr. Phillips previously served on the Ethics Committee of the California Psychological Association. \n					\n					 \n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				CE Information\n\n6 hour event meets the supervision requirement\nWILA is approved by the California Psychological Association so CEs may only be granted to California licensed clinicians\nTo receive CE credit you must attend the entire event\nThis CE is at the intermediate level\n\nWright Institute Los Angeles is approved by the California Psychological Association\, which is recognized by the California Board of Psychology (BOP) and the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) to sponsor continuing education for Psychologists\, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists\, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Wright Institute Los Angeles maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. Full attendance in addition to the completion of the appropriate evaluation form are required in order to receive CE credits.
